Eric Evans, MD
Medical Director

Doctor Evans has been using Ketamine in his medical practice for over 25 years and is excited to use his years of expertise with this medication in this unique and highly effective way at the Desert Sands Ketamine Clinic.

Eric Evans MD graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine and then went on to graduate from one of the top 10 anesthesia residency programs in the country (Wake Forest’s Anesthesiology Residency Program in North Carolina). His fellow physicians voted him in as Chief Resident during his last year there. During those three years in North Carolina, he did extra research and spent extra time in the focused areas of pain management, labor and delivery anesthesia, and cardiac anesthesia for open heart surgeries.

Upon moving to St. George, Dr. Evans set up his practice at Dixie Regional Medical Center. Dr. Evans is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and has   practiced medicine in Southern Utah for over two decades now. He was one of the first two anesthesiologists that started providing epidurals for labor and delivery patients and helped start the department of anesthesia services for Labor and Delivery for Dixie Regional Medical Center. He also started a pain clinic for spine injections and pain management patients. He helped to organize the formal group of anesthesiologists in St. George into a new physician group that eventually merged with the current anesthesia group called Mountain West Anesthesia. This group has grown to almost 200 Anesthesiologists covering most of Intermountain Healthcare’s anesthesia services throughout all of Utah. Dr. Evans has served on the board of Mountain West Anesthesia, has served as the Chairman for the Department of Anesthesia at Dixie Regional Medical Center (DRMC), helped form the Department of Cardiac Anesthesia and then provided anesthesia services for the complex open-heart surgery program for over a decade thereafter as well. He still enjoys providing state of the art anesthesia services to patients of DRMC to this day.

Doctor Evans has a passion for helping others, and is excited to talk with you about how effective Ketamine is for treating patients struggling with depression, PTSD, postpartum depression, bi-polar disorder, suicidal ideation, pain management, and many other challenging disorders.

Shannon Evans, RN, BSN

Shannon also has a passion for medicine and helping others. After graduating from nursing school at Brigham Young University, Shannon went on to serve in the Bone Marrow Transplant unit at the University of Utah Medical Center where she cared for extremely sick cancer patients receiving life-saving bone marrow transplants. Relocating to NC Baptist Hospital at Wake Forest University, she then served for years in multiple intensive care units taking care of those extremely sick patients and their families as well. She then put her skills to work again as a triage nurse for some extremely busy OB/GYN, Internal Medicine, Family Practice and Pediatric physicians in North Carolina. Shannon currently serves as an acute pain nurse at Dixie Regional Medical Center here in St. George, Utah. In that role, she helps anesthesiologists place ultrasound guided nerve blocks for patients having painful surgeries. These blocks help to ensure patients are comfortable for the next few days after surgery. Shannon works closely with the anesthesia department in managing the nerve blocks not only in the hospital, but with patients having indwelling nerve block catheters that they take home. She recently enjoyed a surgical medical mission to Mexico with her husband helping those less fortunate. She also enjoys helping her husband with spine injections in the Desert Sands Spine Injection Clinic performed under fluoroscopic guidance to treat painful spine conditions. She also puts her nursing skills to use in the Desert Sands Ketamine Clinic. Shannon loves using her nursing skill to change people’s lives for the better.

ABOUT OUR KETAMINE TREATMENT CENTER

Our beautiful new 5,300 square foot facility is located in scenic southern southern Utah (St. George, Utah). We are close to Zions’ National Park, Bryce Canyon, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, and many other amazing national parks. We are only an hour and half drive from Las Vegas and our city of St. George has a great regional airport that has daily flights to Salt Lake City, Denver, Phoenix, Dallas, and Los Angeles.

We really wanted to get the atmosphere in our clinic right as we feel it is a crucial part of the process for Ketamine therapy. We visited numerous other Ketamine clinics, and hired a professional consultant from Denver with expertise in starting the best of class Ketamine clinics around the country. Importantly, we also consulted with Ketamine patients themselves. We feel we have designed the facility to make your Ketamine treatment and your experience best of class. We have put a lot of time, thought, and financial backing into things like the sound design, 4K visual technology, beautiful interior design features, and the newest Ketamine protocols. We use only state of the art medical equipment, and use only the extremely accurate computerized Alaris PC infusion devises for your treatment. Unlike many other Ketamine clinics, all patients at Desert Sands Ketamine are also treated with the privacy they deserve. To us, that means every patient deserves an individual, private treatment room for their Ketamine infusion. We want to make sure it is not only the amazing, caring staff that truly impresses you; we also insist that our Ketamine clinic itself be the absolute safest, best choice around for you or your loved ones who already have more than enough to worry about.
