Desert Sands Medical Clinics isn't a franchise. It isn't a side project. It's a purpose-built ketamine treatment center founded by Dr. Eric Evans and Shannon Evans — two people who have spent their entire careers in medicine, and who believe that every patient deserves better than what's currently available.
Why We Started
After more than 30 years as a board-certified anesthesiologist — administering ketamine safely in operating rooms, trauma bays, labor and delivery suites, and pain clinics — Dr. Eric Evans watched a revolution unfold in mental health research. The same medication he'd been using for decades was showing remarkable promise as a treatment for depression, PTSD, anxiety, and chronic pain.
But access was the problem. Across Southern Utah, patients with treatment-resistant depression had almost nowhere to turn. The nearest ketamine clinics were hours away, often staffed by providers without anesthesiology training, and priced out of reach for most families.
Eric and Shannon decided to change that.
Together, they designed a purpose-built, 5,300 square foot facility from the ground up — with private treatment rooms, professional sound design, 4K visual technology, and state-of-the-art Alaris infusion systems. Not a converted office suite. Not a rented room in a strip mall. A real medical facility built specifically for ketamine therapy.
Shannon brought more than 30 years of nursing and healthcare experience — from bone marrow transplant units and intensive care at Wake Forest University to acute pain management at Dixie Regional Medical Center. She understood what patients need to feel safe: genuine warmth, clear communication, and a clinical environment that doesn't feel clinical.
The result is a practice that feels unlike any other ketamine clinic in the state. The lights are warm. The rooms are private. The staff knows your name. And every treatment protocol is physician-directed under the medical oversight of a board-certified anesthesiologist with more than 30 years of clinical experience with ketamine.
